What is PTCO?
PTCO stands for Parent Teacher Community Organization.
The purpose of the PTCO is to assist in attaining the highest level of education and welfare for the entire student body of Sagebrush Elementary. It is our priority to keep you informed of PTCO sponsored activities, fundraisers, and how you can get involved to enhance your child’s education and foster school community. Small contributions from just one person DO make a difference!
Programs & Fundraising
Our primary objective as a PTCO is to provide our school with funds, programs, and resources, that will enrich and maximize the education of every child and to benefit the school. To meet this important objective, we fundraise.
A few programs that we sponsor and/or support are:

- Fun Run
- Fall Trunk or Treat
- Class Field Trips
- Monthly “SOS” Restaurant Nights
- Teacher & Staff Appreciation
- Spring Dance & Auction
- Spirit Wear

We truly hope you enjoy this year and all your years at Sagebrush, we have many fun events planned for the school year! We hope you will join the fun and maybe even help coordinate a little chaos!
2025-2026 PTCO Board Members

Holly is the proud mom of a 4th grader and became involved with the PTCO as a way to stay connected with the school and help wherever she could. She loves being part of the planning process for school events and especially enjoys watching students benefit from the PTCO’s efforts to create fun and memorable experiences. One of her favorite PTCO memories is when she and her husband took on the job of making balloon arches for the school dance—working away in the library and trying not to startle anyone when a balloon popped! Outside of volunteering, Holly enjoys fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. If she could have a superpower, she would choose the ability to fly (so she could finally skip traffic!). Her current favorite book series is the National Park Mystery Series, which she enjoys reading with her son, and she never misses an episode of NCIS. She’s also a big coffee fan and definitely a morning person. This year, Holly is excited to see how much the kids have grown and to help plan even more fun events. She hopes to see new faces at PTCO meetings and encourages families to get involved—whether it’s a little or a lot—because every contribution makes a difference. As she likes to remind everyone: Many hands make light work!

Sam is the proud parent of a 4th grader and has been part of the PTCO for three years. He first got involved to support the school while building relationships with other parents, teachers, and administrators. What he values most about serving is the strong team spirit among everyone who contributes to making Sagebrush a better place for students. Over the years, Sam has created some unforgettable memories—including suiting up as the Leopard mascot during Run for Funds and running alongside the students, a highlight that perfectly captures his enthusiasm for the school community. Interestingly, Sam shares that as a student he once avoided school involvement as much as possible—yet now he finds himself at the school nearly every day, by choice. Outside of PTCO, he enjoys coffee, is a morning person, and if he could have any superpower, he’d pick time travel so he could have a built-in “undo” button for life’s challenges. Looking ahead, Sam is excited for the new challenges this year will bring. His goal is simple: do even better than last year while creating an environment where parents feel supported to try new things. He encourages families to get involved at whatever level feels right: “I’m involved a lot because I enjoy it, but there’s never any pressure. You can simply come to meetings when you can—your involvement is always appreciated, never expected.”

Meaghan is the proud mom of a 3rd and 5th grader and has been part of the PTCO for two years. She first joined because of her friends, but also with the goal of ensuring that teachers and staff felt supported—believing that when educators thrive, her children’s experiences are enriched as well. What Meaghan values most about serving on the board is spending time with an incredible group of hardworking, dedicated parents who believe in investing in kids. While volunteer work is never about recognition, one memory she treasures is being honored with the Exceptional Volunteer Award, a moment that reminded her of the impact PTCO members make every day. Outside of volunteering, Meaghan has a surprising side—she teaches a dance fitness class called Reb3l Groove at Vasa Fitness, which she loves as a fun and energizing outlet. If she could pick a superpower, it would be the ability to be in two places at once—a dream for any busy mom. She’s a devoted Crime Junkie podcast listener, prefers tea over coffee, and is a morning person at heart. This year, Meaghan is excited to return to teaching math in the classroom while continuing her work with the PTCO. She looks forward to bringing new ideas to the auction and supporting the school’s many initiatives. Her biggest encouragement to parents: This time with our kids goes by so fast. The joy of being present at school events—seeing not just your own children, but their classmates light up—is something worth embracing before the “parental embarrassment phase” kicks in.

Therese has proudly served on the PTCO board for two years and is the grandmother of a 5th grader. She joined because she wanted to stay actively involved in her grandkids’ lives and their school—just as she had done years ago for her own children. For Therese, being on the board is about helping make decisions, supporting teachers and staff, and working to make the school a safe, welcoming, and better place for everyone. While she has loved every event she’s been part of, a favorite memory is Trunk or Treat—seeing the kids dressed up in costumes, parents decorating trunks, and the entire community laughing and celebrating together. Family is at the center of Therese’s life. She loves spending time with her loved ones, traveling, making memories, and has a special hobby of collecting all things Stitch. If she could have any superpower, she’d choose the ability to heal people who cannot walk or see. Her favorite author is Debbie Macomber, her favorite movies are the My Big Fat Greek Wedding trilogy, and while she’s not a coffee or tea drinker, she swears by a Monster Zero Sugar Ultra Blue to start her mornings. She describes herself as both a morning and night person—mostly because she doesn’t sleep much and is always up for whatever comes her way! This year, Therese is excited to find even more ways to make a difference for the students and community. She hopes to one day help bring new traditions like a school carnival or a Secret Santa shop where kids can buy gifts for their families. Her advice to parents: “If you can find the time now to be involved in your child’s school, do it. It’s so important to be there when you can—because you never know if you’ll have the chance later.”

Haley has been part of the Sagebrush community for two years and is the proud mom of a 3rd and 5th grader. She first got involved by helping out in classrooms and at parties, but her role quickly grew as she became more invested in school-wide opportunities—supporting community events, expanding field trip offerings, and encouraging participation in after-school clubs. Along the way, she has loved getting to know teachers and other families in the community. For Haley, one of the best parts of serving on the PTCO is being “in the know” about school-wide events and having the chance to play an active role in her kids’ elementary experience. Some of her favorite memories include helping with Trunk or Treat, working on the playground mural, and making new “mom friends” through volunteering. Outside of PTCO, Haley loves the outdoors, especially hiking and exploring Colorado with her family. She’s a coffee enthusiast, a night owl, and enjoys watching her kids grow into kind, interesting, and curious people. Looking ahead, she’s excited about bringing more STEM-based opportunities to the school. Her advice to anyone thinking about volunteering? “Find a friend and do it together!”

Heidi is the proud parent of a 5th grader and has loved being part of the PTCO as a way to stay connected, support teachers and staff, and help build a strong sense of community for all families. For her, PTCO involvement is about pitching in, meeting other parents, and making a positive difference where it counts. One of Heidi’s favorite parts of serving on the PTCO board is helping make field trips possible for students. She believes these experiences are some of the most valuable parts of a child’s education—bringing learning to life, sparking curiosity, and connecting the classroom to the real world. Supporting those opportunities and seeing the excitement on kids’ faces makes the work deeply rewarding. A highlight memory for Heidi is helping with the annual Trunk or Treat event, where families deck out their cars with fun and spooky decorations. Watching students parade through the parking lot in costume—led by Principal Powell—has been one of her most joyful experiences at Sagebrush, bringing the whole community together in the best way. Outside of PTCO, Heidi is known for her green chile recipe (which has earned quite the reputation!), enjoys a good cup of tea, and counts Ted Lasso among her favorite shows. If she could pick a superpower, she’d choose the ability to be in two places at once—juggling work, family, volunteering, and soccer practice without missing a moment. She’s also a morning person who loves starting the day with energy and focus. This year is bittersweet for Heidi’s family as it’s their last at Sagebrush, but she’s excited to see the friendships her child has formed continue to grow and flourish. She’s passionate about making sure every family feels welcome and valued in the PTCO community, and she encourages others to get involved: no matter how much time you can give, it makes a difference. As Heidi believes: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” — Helen Keller

Jess is the proud parent of a 2nd and 3rd grader and joined the PTCO to gain a better understanding of what was happening at the school day-to-day while meeting other engaged parents. After attending her first meeting, she kept coming back—and eventually joined the board—because she realized just how important the PTCO is to the school. She wanted to be part of both the fundraising efforts and the decisions about how those funds are used to directly benefit students. One of Jess’s favorite aspects of serving on the board is listening to the principal’s report at meetings, which gives her a deeper insight into what’s happening at Sagebrush. She also values the friendships and connections she’s made with parents and staff, which have made the school community feel like a second home. Some of her favorite memories include volunteering at the auction, where she gets to see the school’s spirit and generosity on full display. Born and raised in Boulder, Jess also spent time studying abroad in Spain. If she could pick a superpower, she’d choose teleportation—being able to get anywhere in an instant would be a dream! Outside of volunteering, she enjoys coffee, late nights, and reading anything by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Looking ahead, Jess is excited to see the PTCO continue to grow its fundraising efforts—especially building on the success of Bingo Night, which launched last year. She’s passionate about reminding families that the PTCO directly impacts every student by funding field trips, art supplies, kindergarten chairs, drama performances, and much more. Her message to families: The PTCO can’t exist without volunteers. You don’t have to join the board to make a difference—any time you can give makes an impact and helps strengthen our school community.
